The Elephant Race Festival is usually held in Don Village or in forests near the Sevepoi River. In preparation for the festive day, people take their elephants to places where they can eat their fill. Apart from grass their food also includes bananas, papayas, sugar canes, corns, sweet potatoes. The elephants are free from hard work to preserve their strength.The race track is on even ground, preferably wide enough for ten elephants to stand simultaneously in a line with a length of one to two kilometres. People from near and far in their best and colourful costumes flock to the festival.

With the signal of of tu va (horns made into musical instruments), the mahouts command their elephants to go to the race track, standing in a row at the starting point. The leading elephant stands in front, whirling his trunk and nodding his head in greeting the spectators. Atop each elephant there are two handlers in traditional costumes for generals. The tu va signals the start of the race and the elephants rush ahead, excited by the sound of the drums, gongs, and cheering from the spectators. Upon seeing the first elephant dashing to the destination, the spectators shout boisterously amidst the echoing sound of drums and gongs. At the end of the race, the winning elephants lift their trunks above their heads to wave to the viewers, walk deliberately flapping their ears gently, gazing through half-closed eyes to receive sugarcane from their viewers.

The winning elephant is given a laurel wreath. Like its owner, the elephant expresses its happiness and enjoy the sugar canes and bananas from the festival-goers. After this race, the elephants participate in the competition of swimming across the Serepok River, of tug-of-wars, or throwing balls and playing football. When the race comes to an end, the competing elephants bring back the atmosphere of the festival to their villages. Upon returning to their village, they receive warm welcome from the villagers. Very often, the elephants from Don Village win the prizes as the village has a tradition of training and tending elephants.

1.In Ha Noi, the number of death by traffic accident is considered as large as the number of death by plague. There's about more than 30 people die everyday.

With the traffic conditions in Ha Noi, accident is object to happen. The roads are too narrow to travel easily. Moreover, many pot-holes can appear everywhere to threaten the goers. On the roads, there're sometimes the illogical roundabouts. They are not only useless, but also make the traffic more chaotic. To solve this problem, we only have one way, it's improving the road. However, it is impossible for the government to widen the roads because of limited land. Whenever theroads are repaired, the traffic is more dangerous with the unfinished structures. People still travel on the repairing roads, and the roads are more and more narrow. We also can build the tunnels but it is very costly. Viet Nam has to borrow money from other countries and no one knows when the government can pay it back. As you know, Ha Noi is a monsoonal tropical country, it has a lot of rain every year. During the rainy season, the roads are flooded because all the waste pipes are stuck by rubbish and become very dirty.

In addition, the tense of Ha Noi people is poor. The roads in the cities are choked with so many vehicles such as motorbikes, bicycles, taxies, buses, cyclos and pedestrians because people do not follow the laws well. They even don't obey the traffic lights or signs. Children are taught about traffic laws while adults are breaking it. Now, the government gives many new strict laws to improve the present posture. Polices are more active than they used to. Everyone travel on

motorbike wears helmet naturally without any enforcement. The traffic is better and better day by day.

In conclusion, with many measures now, the traffic in Ha Noi will be good one day. The poor conditions Ha Noi can solve this problem by the development of economic.

Mid-Autumn Festival is under the full moon day of the lunar calendar every year in August, over 4,000 years ago. This is the day children’s festival, also known as the “Festival looks Moon”. Children are expected Tet is because adults are often donated toys, usually light. His star, mask, light pull troops … and pies, cakes plastic. Besides the Tet Holiday, Mid-Autumn festival is one of the most famous festivals and it is a traditional celebration for Vietnamese children.

Mid-Autumn celebration is also an opportunity for members of the family to get together and share everything in their year. The young generation express their gratitude to the old generation. The parents show their love for their children. For others, because the traditional time to have this festival is usually after harvesting the crops, it is as the congratulation for the full harvest.

Apart from moon cakes and lanterns, the other most visible tradition related to Mid-Autumn festival is the lion dance. On the nights leading up to the holiday, groups of children parade through the streets – some of the children maintain a martial beat on drums, while others control an extravagantly decorated ‘lion’ crafted from molds and paper.

The children approach homes and businesses and ask the owners for their permission to perform. If they agree, the children put on a show that is believed to bring a blessing of luck and fortune. Afterwards the host gives the children lucky money as a sign of gratitude.

In 2014, I had chance to visit Lim Festival, a traditional festival in Vietnam where the famous Quan Ho folk songs are performed. Coming here on the festive days, I and thousands of visitors enjoyed the singing of traditional love duets (Quan Ho fork songs) performed by “lien anh” and “lien chi” (male and female Quan Ho singers) behind Lim pagoda, in Lim hill and on dragon boats on Lim rivers. Those singers wore traditional costumes and sang songs in pairs. There were strict rules for their performance in which the singers had to not only react quickly but also have a good understanding of traditional tunes as well as the historical and cultural features of the songs. Like other religious festivals, the Lim Festival went through all ritual stages, from the procession to the worshipping ceremony and other activities. I also watched a weaving competition among the village girls who wove and sang Quan Ho simultaneously. Other traditional games such as human chess-playing, cockfighting contest, rice-cooking contest, tug of war and wrestling were also held. Visiting this festival is a memorable experience to me.

First, we should use electricity more efficiently. We should turn the light, the television and other electrical appliances off when we are not using them. We can also use low energy light bulbs to save electricity.

Second, we should use less private transport. We should travel by bus or train instead of car and motorbike. In addition, we can avoid using cars or motorbikes for short trips.

Finally, we should reduce the use of water. Taking showers instead of baths is a good way. Besides, we should turn off the tap when brushing our teeth; this can save 6 liters of water per minute.

In conclusion, those ways can save our lives in the future so we should raise our awareness of saving energy.

Tet is a national and family festival. It is an occasion for every Vietnamese to have a good time while thinking about the last year and the next year. At Tet, spring fairs are organized, streets and public buildings are brightly decorated and almost all shops are crowded with people shopping for Tet. As one of the most frequently-visited attractions in Dak Lak, Buon Don is famous for its unique culture which has been described in literature and music for years. However, even though many people come to Buon Don to ride the elephants, a lot of them fail to witness the most important and interesting event of the village in a year: the Elephant Racing Festival, which is organized every March. Yes, you should not be one of them, because this is one of the many things that make your trip to Tay Nguyen unforgettable.

The racing track of the festival has a length of about 400- 500m and a width which allows 30 elephants to stand side-by-side. Before the race starts, people give a series of horn sounds in different pitches. Following the orders of the organizers, the elephants form a line in front of the judges. Each of the intelligent elephants knees down to greet the judges and the audience. After that, each group of elephant comes to the starting line.

Right after the signal, as if they are made of spring, the elephants dart ahead while the sound of drums, gongs and the crowd spread all over the forests and mountains. The elephants compete for many rounds until one of them wins. This “winner” is then awarded with a laurel wreath. It raises its tusk to thank the audience; its ears wiggle and its eyes are half-closed when receiving the cheer of people, as well as their gifts: banana and sugarcane!

Even when the racing would have already left a deep impression on the audience, the other competitions of the festival are so interesting that they attract everyone who has been already filled with joy after the race. One of them is the swimming competition in which elephants swim across Serepok River. In addition, there are a plethora of games such as tug of war or soccer. Not surprisingly, the elephants are again the competitors!

The Elephant Racing Festival in Dak Lak will surely mesmerize you with the bubbly feeling of a feast and the echoing sounds of gongs and drums. Witnessing the spectacular performances of the smart elephants in Buon Don for yourself, and you will understand why this event intrigues thousands of people coming to this region every March. My family and I attended the Buffalo – fighting Festival in Do Son last year. This festival is held every year, on August 9^th according to Lunar calendar. The Buffalo – fighting Festival is held to remember the merits of gods, maintain the village discipline, to play for the prosperity and happiness for the local people. People played drum, danced and watched the buffalos. The drum sound and the scream of people urge the buffalo to play in a fierce way. Many buffalo owners, local people and tourists came to the festival. The festival was really fascinating and amazing.
