write a short paragraph about your family's traditions and custom
Last week we published an article that discussed why and how to establish family traditions. Traditions offer numerous benefits: they strengthen your family’s bonds, enrich the life you share together, contribute to your children’s well-being, and create lasting memories. For this reason, they form one of the three pillars of family culture.
Today we offer a list of over 60 specific family tradition ideas. You can incorporate some of these directly into your family, or use them as inspiration for creating your own traditions.
Before we get started, let’s cover a few things that will help ensure that your establishment of new traditions will be met with success:
While it’s tempting to go crazy with starting lots of traditions, shoot for quality over quantity. If you do a couple from within each category, you’re gold.
Choose traditions that most resonate with you. Having said that, as you review the list, try not to immediately write off some as silly or not elaborate enough. This isn’t only about what appeals to you as a jaded adult, but what will appeal to your kids. If you think back to your childhood, some surprisingly silly and simple stuff was a lot of fun and created great memories.
Traditions need to be practiced regularly to be effective. It’s easy to throw a tradition out the window when life gets busy and you’ve had a long day. Commit to the tradition and do your best to be as consistent as possible with it.
The ideas below come from The Book of New Family Traditions, from mine and Kate’s respective families, from our friends’ families, and from those we’ve come up with for our own family.
In my opinion, customs and traditions are very important for the Vietnamese life. Like other families, my family has our own customs and traditions. Firstly, there’s a custom in our family of children standing in a row to greet guests. It expresses respect to the guest from the host. Secondly we have the tradition of having lunch together on the second day of Tet. Everyone has to be there before 7 p.m to have the dinner and talk about the Tet holiday. Thirdly, It is the custom for my family to spend Sunday together. We usually go to supermarket or go for a picnic. Sometimes, my family celebrates grilled party. We all enjoy this customs and traditions because they provide our family with sense of belonging. Moreover, it makes us closer as a family and help make life better.

Tell about the seasons in a year in your country and your country
I'm Quyen. I live in the south of Vietnam where have only 2 seasons: Rain and Dry.
The rain season usually from June to November, it rains a lot and wet. In this time, it usually have hurricane and thunderstorm. So, you need to be careful when you go outside because the rain might cause thunder or lightning, you cannot use a phone, under the tree and no umbrella. Thankfully, the rain season it's good for crops.
The dry season, it's very hot. The temperature it's about 36-40 degree Celsius and it usually from the end of January to May. In this time, the weather it's very muggy and easily to get fire.
I live in the dry season now. So, I'm dying for a lot of rains. To me, I think I like the rain season the most because the rain season bring the cool weather and convenience for the crops.
I think the best word to describe the weather in my country would be changeable. The British weather is very unpredictable! One day you can get glorious sunshine then the next day you might get hailstones and freezing wind. Even in the middle of summer, you can never rely on getting good weather, as anybody who has organised an outdoor event in this country will know. Every year on the news we see pop festivals that turn into muddy swamps due to heavy rain or summer holidays at the seaside ruined by terrible weather. But having said that, when the sun does decide to shine in this country I could not think of a better place to be. One thing that I like about the British weather is that we don’t really get extremes of temperature as some other countries do.
.
The rain does sometimes get me down especially if it continues for weeks without stopping and it often makes me feel reluctant to leave the house. I’d say that my favourite season of the year is spring because after a long cold winter the first signs of spring really lift your spirits. When we have a heatwave in the summer, which sometimes can be for weeks on end , I love to go down to the coast where you can cool off in the sea or just enjoy the cool breeze coming off the sea.
.
In the winter I tend to stay indoors as much as possible because I hate the cold weather. I think having four very different seasons, as we do in the UK, is a good thing because it’s amazing to see how the countryside changes with the seasons. I think I would find it very strange to live near the equator where the weather is pretty much the same all year round.
