Life in modern city truly causes a lot of nuisances. Firstly, citizens have to deal with traffic congestion every day. This problem is even worse in the rush hour when so many people run out to work and are stuck on the streets for hours. Next, high cost of living is also a serious issue in the city, especially in metropolitan cities. More and more people find it difficult to live on their modest salaries when prices are going up and up all the time. Financial pressure makes city dwellers become constantly stressed and tired. Finally, the polluted air caused by exhaust emission from millions of vehicles, construction dust and the lack of green trees negatively affect residents’ health. Read the passage below and choose one correct answer for each question.
A UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) is any object flying in the sky which cannot be identified by the person who sees it. Sometimes the object is investigated. If people can still not figure out what the object is after an investigation, it is called a UFO. If they figure out what the object is, it can no longer be called a UFO because it has been identified.
Even though UFOs can be anything, people often use the word UFO when they are talking about alien spacecraft. Flying saucer is another word that is often used to describe an unidentified flying object.
Studies estimate that 50%-90% of all reported UFO sightings are identified later. Usually 10%-20% are never identified. Studies also show that very few UFO sightings are hoaxes (people trying to trick other people). Most UFOs are actually natural or man-made objects that looked strange. 80%-90% UFOs are identified as one of three different things: astronomical causes (for example: planets, stars, or meteors); aircraft; balloons 10%-20% of UFOs are other causes (such as birds, clouds, mirages, searchlights, etc.)

Although the United States is a large country with many people, the language is almost the same wherever one goes. There are two reasons for this. One is that people move around a great deal in the United States. A man may grow up in one part of the country, go to college in another part, find work
in another place, and marry a girl from still another part of the country. Railroads, airplanes, cars and highways make it easy to travel in America. Many large companies have branches in different areas of
the country and transfer their workers from one branch to another. The second important factor is public communication. Movies, radio, and television all have a standard way of speech, and almost everyone in the United States hears it. There are, however, some words and expressions more common
in one part of the country than in others. Throughout the history of the United States, large groups of
immigrants have come to make their homes and they give new words to the language.
