Chol Cham Thmay Festival

At night of New Year's Eve,every family prepares a lavish meal,burns incense and candles to welcome the new god,farewell the old good.On the altar,they present 5 flower branches,5 candles,5 insence,5 cereal seeds and fruit crops.They pray for health and luck in the New Year.

On the first New Year-Chol Sangkran Chmay,major activities are bathing,dressing nice,bringing sacrifice gifts to the temple in good time which has been selected.

On Wonbof day-the second day,the make rice offerings and cover the sand moutain.People cook rice and bring it to the temple in the morning and the afternoon.

The first cell phone weighed about 2 kilograms and was demonstrated in 1973 by Dr.Martin Cooper and John F.Mitchell of Motorola. Ten years later, in 1983, the first model of cell phone went on sale to the public. By 2011, over six billion people, 87% of the world’s population, used mobile networks.

In spite of the many advantages a cell phone has, it also brings about several problems that users should be aware of. Mobile phone radiation is believed to be harmful to human health. One of the most wonderful inventions of the past one hundred years is the telephone. This familiar, handy instrument has become a highly important part of daily life. The first telephone was installed in 1877. Today there are over 170 million telephones in the world. The average person in North America makes over six hundred calls a years.

The word telephone came from the Greek tele and phone, which means “distant” and “sound”. These words actually describe what the telephone does. It carries sound over a distance rapidly and accurately by using electric currents.
