Ex 4.Read the passage and choose the best answer

Giving positive nonverbal messages can improve your relationship with your child and develop emotional connections in your family. Most children love being hugged and kissed, for example. This warm and caring body language sends the nonverbal message that you want to be close to your child.

Some children with special needs – for example, children with autism and sensory sensitivities –might find body contact difficult.

On the other hand, negative nonverbal communication – for example, a grumpy tone of voice or a frown – when you're doing something fun together might send the message that you don't really want to be there.

So matching your verbal and nonverbal communication makes your words more effective. For example, a teacher might explain a maths problem using her hands to show size and shape.

But when verbal and nonverbal messages don't match, your child might believe the nonverbal – after all, what you see is what you get. Your child learns a lot about nonverbal communication by watching you. For example, if you approach new people in a relaxed way, your child is more likely to do the same.

Fame seems to appeal to everyone due to its attraction and glamour. Many prefer to be a famous one or a celebrity to change their life. However, everything has its both side. This essay will discuss the pros and cons of fame.

To begin with, they get a special treatment everywhere they go. Celebrities get special tables at restaurants, best sit at theatres and VIP treatment at clubs or events. They get free parking at hotels or they cars are guarded at events.

On the other hand, celebrities have no private, that make they are constantly judged. They are judged for the clothes they wear, their bodies, make-up, personalities and cars that they drive. Newspapers, magazines, blogs and social networks you can always find the rude, nasty, insulting, and derogatory and lies about celebrity’s daily routine. It’s like we forget that they’re human beings.

Fame carries also worry about your own safety and the safety of your family. There is always a danger that a crazy fan may try to kidnap or kill you or your children, so it is necessary to employ bodyguards.

All in all, fame may be nice but not an easy thing to live with. You have money but you do not feel safe, you have friends and fans but you can never be sure if they like you for who you are or for your money.

GREETING CUSTOMS AROUND THE WORLD

USA: It is normal for men to shake hands when they meet, but it is quite unusual for men to kiss when they greet each other. Greetings are casual-a handshake, a smile and a ''hello'' will do just fine

UK: The British often simply say ''hello'' when they meet friends. They usually shake hands only when they meet for the first time. Social kissing is common in an informal situation between men and women and also between women who know each other very well

FRANCE: The French, including children, shake hands with their friends and often kiss them on both cheeks, both upon meeting and leaving

ARAB countries: In Arab countries, close male friends or colleagues hug and kiss both cheeks. They shake hands with their right hand only, for longer but less firmly than in West. Contact between the opposite genders in public is considered obscene. Do not offer to shake hands with the opposite sex.

HUNGARY: Hungarians like to use the friendly greeting form of kissing each other on the cheeks. The most comon way is to kiss from your right to your left. When men meet for the first time, the casual greeting is a frm handshake

BELGIUM: People kiss on one cheek when they meet, regardless of the gender or how well they know

CHINESE: Chinese people tend to be more conservative. When meeting someone for the first time, they would usually nod their heads and smile, or shake hands if in a formal situation

RUSSIA: The typical greeting is a very film handshake while maintaining direct eye contact. When men shake hands with women, the handshake is not firm. It is considered gallant to kiss women three times while alternating cheeks, and even to kiss hands.

Read the following passage about London's Heathrow Airport and write A, B, C or D for questions 1-10.

A. Passport Control

If you are not transferring to another flight outside Britain or Northern Ireland, you must pass through Passport Control and Customs immediately after leaving your plane. If you are not British or a citizen of a country in the European Community, you must fill out a special form called a landing card before your passport is examined. This card should be given to you during the flight. However, you can also obtain one inside the terminal building.

When you enter the terminal building from your aircraft, follow the ARRIVALS signs. Make sure that you are in the right channel when you reach PASSPORT CONTROL. There is one channel for holders of European Community passports and a second channel marked "Other Passports.

B. Getting your Luggage

If you have luggage which was carried in the aircraft hold, follow the BAGGAGE RECLAIM signs after your passport has been examined. If you have only hand luggage, pass through the baggage reclaim area and follow the CUSTOMS sign.

C. Customs

All passengers arriving from a country outside Britain and Northern Ireland are allowed to bring with them a certain quality of duty free items. You can get information about how much you can bring by reading the signs marked Duty Free Allowances in the baggage reclaim area.

There are three Customs Channels: the Red Channel, the Green Channel and the Blue Channel. If you have something to declare, or if you are not sure about your Duty Free Allowance, you must go through the Red Channel. Passengers arriving from outside the European Community with nothing to declare must go through the Green Channel. Passengers arriving from the countries in the European Community with nothing to declare must go through the Blue Channel.

Please note that Customs Officers may stop you at any time and examine your luggage as you go through the Green or Blue Channel.

D. Transit Passengers

If you are immediately transferring to another flight at Heathrow that is not bound for a destination in Britain or Northern Ireland, you are a transit passenger and do not have to go through the procedures above.

All transit passengers should follow the black and yellow TRANSFERS signs Airport staff at the Transfer Desk and at other places in the terminal will direct you to your departure gate.
